This school project is worked with Q+A Art Foundation. My role is guiding students to finish their mural work from research, design to execution on real wall. The theme is about neighbourhood in Wanchai. In the process, the students finished the entire wall spontaneously. I just gave them advice and did the arrangement. I am so proud of them.
What are the features on wall?
~surreal, amazing story/ tells how the dragon to find his ideal blooming flower and encounter turtle without shell/ a metaphor
~collage technique with magazines and newspapers.
~installation by using lego/ contrast on geometric form and organic form
~stylish pattern
What did the students learn?
One of the students let me know that she understood the creativity is able to come from our daily life. She thought lego was a toy only. However, we put it into artwork eventually. It surprised her.
Creativity has to be cultivated.
Possibilities will be come.
The photos below shows the process of research stage. We visited different signature places in Wanchai. At the same time, we recorded down our memories and feeling by using clay, pen and rope with different methods, instead of using photography. We processed it by expressive arts as well with our five sensations. It's interesting that the students found out their ears are more sensitive than their eyes. I am happy they are willing to explore and have a new discovery.
